"Jagvar" (Jagvar)

The Phaeton is screaming "Service Now" at me every time I start it (though not throwing any warning lights, knock on wood). The '99 Galant, meanwhile, takes multiple attempts to start, and when it finally does, it shakes violently and the exhaust reeks. I'm taking the Galant for service tomorrow, and the VW goes in next week, assuming I have any money left at all.
They are conspiring to destroy me.

Jagvar will persevere!
Have you looked into any indy shop for the VW? May be able to do things cheaper.
I do understand your pain though. With the Magnum still getting a motor installed and the SL only just out, Im without a car until the Magnum is done because this is not SL weather.
It will get better!

Didn't I see an article yesterday about you offering the Phaeton to car reviews?
I think it knows...

Maybe it's just shy. It acted up the week I loaned it to my dad, too.

The Galant is going all kamikaze, and the Phaeton is going to...I dunno...invade Poland, I guess.

I'd go with "...collapse under its own weight".
Hopefully you get off fairly cheap this go around.
I know you love your Phaeton, but don't let it become an anchor that drags you down into dire financial straits... Maybe you need to moonlight occasionally as an Uber driver in that stately beast!

It's German, so the navigation system automatically directs you towards Poland.

Ignore the 'Service Now' until you can get a VAG-COM read. With no other warnings it should be good for a bit. The Galant? I bet its Motor Mounts + A Starter/Crank out-of-alignment causing issues. Not sure why exhaust would reek but Mitsus' are usually known for their crappy Cat Converters. At least you dont live in California where a Mitsu in normal conditions always fails the Smog test.
As for mine (See here http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/i-sold-my-2004… ) well, here is the damage:
- After doing the headlights, the right ones refuses to light up (HID) it also shorts the fuse. We disconnected the cables going to headlight, put in new fuse, no problem. As soon as it connects, it blows the fuse. 90% sure is a headlight controller. Using ebay parts and indie VW shop will cost approx $500 to repair (and seriously thinking of replacing both controllers, because the left one has gone dark a couple times, so maybe $800? a thou?
- Tires on their last legs, so Phaeton will rest for a bit until Tax Refund times, yet another $800 on cheap tires.
- Courtesy light on passenger side works whenever it wants to.
Other than that, it has been good so far, 2,000 miles.

Thanks, man! I had the Galant taken care of yesterday. Turns out it just needed a new battery and an oil change, plus the gas in the tank was not the best quality. It's all sorted now.
I missed your post from November. I didn't know that you picked up another Phaeton, but am so glad to hear that you did, and that it's treating you well! Campy White...so rare and gorgeous! I'm jealous!
